Kathleen McCormick
Graduate Researcher
I am a third year PhD student in Human Development at Cornell University. Broadly I am interested in reproductive transitions through the lifespan. My research is focused on observing how psychological, biological, and social changes occur across the menstrual cycle and throughout puberty, pregnancy, and menopause. I graduated from Cornell in 2016 with a B.S. in Human Development. I then worked in the Women’s Hormones and Aging Laboratory from 2016-2018, and served as project manager in the Youth, Emotion, Development and Intervention Lab at UIUC from 2018-2020.

I thankfully have interests and hobbies outside of academia. Some of these are: running, hiking, reading (current recommendations: Bright Dead Things by Ada Limon, and Awakenings by Oliver Sacks). I am also a Boston Celtics fan (currently disappointing me), and distance running fan (never disappointing).
Research Interests
The constellation of changes that occur during female reproductive transitions generate cascading effects on an individual's physical, psychological, and social functioning. My program of research explores these intertwined biological, psychological, and social changes that occur around the menstrual cycle and across the lifespan as well as the effects of these changes on individuals and larger systems.

I also have an interest in open science, and am working to apply open science practices to my work.
In addition to my research interests in developmental psychology, I also work with Dustin Haraden to help demystify the graduate school process. Together we run the YCGS Podcast and YouTube channel (check it out here!). We hope the resources we provide and experiences we share can help make the graduate process easier and more accessible to the scientists who come after us.
